Self-Care Project
This project was taught in City Art Lab (an after-school program for high school teens) as part of CCNY’s graduate-level coursework.
Participating high school students were guided in a project spanning three weeks resulting in a personal logo and a field guide to self-care.
Goals for the project included having students:
Create their own definitions of self-care and care,
Visually represent these definitions,
Learn book-making techniques such as accordion books and waterfall cards, and
Take autonomy over the process (choosing the materials to use, the visual and textual content that goes in the field guide, and defending their choices).
