Self-Care Project

This project was taught in City Art Lab (an after-school program for high school teens) as part of CCNY’s graduate-level coursework.

Participating high school students were guided in a project spanning three weeks resulting in a personal logo and a field guide to self-care.

Goals for the project included having students:

  • Create their own definitions of self-care and care,

  • Visually represent these definitions,

  • Learn book-making techniques such as accordion books and waterfall cards, and

  • Take autonomy over the process (choosing the materials to use, the visual and textual content that goes in the field guide, and defending their choices).
